Emotional Intelligence
Training Need
The driving force in the 21st century may be EQ (Emotional Intelligence) rather than IQ. Recent research has shown that people with high EQ generally outperform those with high IQ, the traditional method for measuring intelligence. Poor EQ skills rather than technical incompetence or low IQ consistently derail the best of efforts by executives and managers. This training provides the skills needed to develop, improve and enhance your emotional intelligence.
Target Audience
The programme is geared towards key senior managers and executives that have leadership roles. Later, the programme can be tailored to staff at all levels who may benefit from understanding and increasing their emotional intelligence.
Programme Objectives
- Understand the importance of emotions and emotional intelligence for effective management and leadership
 - Increase your level of EQ competencies in five key component areas
 - Develop ability to recognise and regulate your emotions
 - Develop greater self-awareness
 - Foster trust, cooperation and open communication in your relationships
 - Improve ability to communicate and make decisions
 - Influence, persuade, inspire and guide your staff and clients more effectively
 - Expand ways to resolve conflict more easily
 - Control and manage your emotions for higher productivity

Duration
This is designed as a one-day programme. However, we can consider a two-day programme in the future depending on the response. A follow-up additional day can also be effective.
Programme Content
Emotional Intelligence, the ability to manage our emotions and those of others,
holds the key to improving personal and organisational performance. This
programme provides an overview to Daniel Goleman's five major components of EQ –
self-awareness, self-management, self-motivation, empathy and
relationship-building – and leads towards connecting this knowledge with
behaviours and competencies that will align with personal and organisational
goals and visions. The morning session will focus on personal management and
the afternoon on interpersonal management.
Many managers and executives either dismiss emotions entirely or see them as a
sign of weakness to be avoided at all costs. According to research into
emotional intelligence, this is a misdirected and outdated viewpoint. The
paradigm has shifted from emphasis only on the bottom-line to being in touch
with the "heart-line" which motivates and elevates our capacity to be effective,
creative and exceptional on a deeper level. This will be necessary for any
company to be a leader in its field. The ability to sense, understand and apply
the energy and sensitivity of emotions will increase your connection, influence
and effectiveness as a leader, and will have positive ripple-effects throughout
the entire organisation.
